NAALYA SECONDARY SCHOOL BWEYOGERERE CAMPUS EMBRACES THE FUTURE WITH SUCCESSFUL 2026 E-VOTING ELECTIONS
In a historic display of technological adoption and democratic maturity, Naalya Secondary School Bweyogerere Campus officially kicked off the 2026 Student Leadership Elections today with a seamless transition to digital voting.
For the first time in the school’s history, learners cast their votes electronically, marking a significant milestone in the institution's commitment to innovation, transparency, and efficiency. The E-Voting system, which was implemented by the school administration in partnership with leading ICT experts, allowed students to select their preferred leaders for the Prefects’ Council, including the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers and other portfolio bearers.
A Smooth and Transparent Process
The atmosphere across the campus was charged with excitement and civic responsibility. Students logged into the secure school portal using their unique credentials to cast their ballots. The user-friendly interface was designed to ensure that every eligible voter could participate without hassle, regardless of their technological expertise.
"Today, we are witnessing the future of student leadership," remarked Mr. Kizito Chairman Electoral Commission, Bweyogerere Campus. "By adopting E-Voting, we are not only reducing the logistical challenges and paper waste associated with traditional elections but also ensuring that the results are accurate, tamper-proof, and available in real-time. This is a great lesson for our learners on the importance of digital integrity and active citizenship."
High Voter Turnout
The E-Voting system proved to be a hit among the student body, leading to a remarkably high voter turnout. Learners expressed their enthusiasm for the new system, citing its convenience and speed.
"Usually, lining up to vote takes a long time, and sometimes you can't even see the ballot paper clearly," shared KEMIREMBE BELINDA, a Senior 3 student. "This year, I voted in less than two minutes from my phone. It was easy, and I feel confident that my vote actually counted."
The system featured robust security measures, including multi-factor authentication, to prevent fraud and ensure that only registered students could participate. The results were tallied automatically by the system, eliminating human error and the long wait for manual counting.
