From Classroom to Commerce: Naalya Students Manufacture Eco-Friendly Detergents in DIT Skilling Program
At NAALYA SECONDARY SCHOOL BWEYOGERERE CAMPUS , education extends far beyond the textbook. We are proud to announce a significant milestone in our practical learning journey: our Senior students, under the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) Skilling Program, have successfully manufactured a comprehensive range of high-quality cleaning and bathing products.

This initiative is a testament to our commitment to holistic education, equipping learners with hands-on skills that foster self-reliance and entrepreneurial spirit. The students, guided by our expert instructors, have turned their classrooms into mini-factories, producing items that are not only practical but also safe and cost-effective.

A Spotlight on Student Innovation
The students have developed a diverse product line designed to meet the daily needs of our school community and households alike. These products include:
· Sanitizer: A vital tool for hygiene, produced to help prevent the spread of germs within our community.

· Washing Soap (Bar): A classic, long-lasting bar soap for general laundry purposes.

· Showering Gel: A fragrant and gentle body wash, perfect for daily use.

· Bathing Soap (Bar): A moisturizing soap bar designed to cleanse and protect the skin.

· Liquid Soap: A versatile solution suitable for both laundry and general household cleaning.

· Car Wash Gel: A specialized, high-foaming formula that provides a streak-free shine for vehicles.

· Dish Washing Soap: A powerful grease-cutting liquid that is gentle on hands.

· Scrubbing Soap: An abrasive soap formulated to tackle stubborn stains on hard surfaces.

The Learning Experience
The manufacturing process was a deep dive into chemistry, mathematics, and business principles. Our students were involved in every step of the process, from measuring raw materials and understanding chemical reactions to mastering the art of scenting, curing, and packaging the final products.
“This isn’t just about making soap,” said MWIGARIRE BRIANA Student S3, a participant in the program. “We are learning about cost analysis, marketing, and quality control. It has opened our eyes to the business opportunities available in the manufacturing sector.”

Beyond the Product: Life Skills and Career Readiness
The DIT Skilling program at Naalya is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment. By creating these products, our students are not just learning a trade; they are developing critical life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and financial literacy. They are leaving our gates with a certificate and the ability to start a small business or secure employment in the manufacturing industry.
Support Our Students
We invite the entire Naalya community parents, alumni, and friends to support this initiative. The products will soon be available for purchase at the school. By buying a bar of soap or a bottle of sanitizer, you are directly investing in the future of our talented students and supporting their entrepreneurial efforts.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the instructors and administrative staff who made this program a success. We remain committed to nurturing the leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Welcome to Naalya Secondary Schools where we build the future, one student at a time.
