Naalya Secondary Schools Donate UGX 1 Million to St Gonzaga Church Community towards church construction
In a profound display of faith and community solidarity, Naalya Secondary Schools (comprising the Bweyogerere, Namugongo, and Lugazi campuses) made a significant contribution to the local community this past Sunday. The schools donated a sum of One Million Uganda Shillings (Shs 1,000,000) to aid the ongoing construction of St Gonzaga Church in Naalya, Kamuli Sub Parish.
The event was marked by a spiritually uplifting Holy Mass, which saw the congregation of St Gonzaga filled with the vibrant energy of the students and staff from our Namugongo campus. It was a special occasion as our students took the lead in the liturgical celebration, forming the choir and guiding the congregation through a moving session of worship and song.
The Mass was presided over by Rev. Father Timothy, who traveled from the Mityana Kiyinda Diocese to celebrate with the Naalya community. His homily inspired the faithful, emphasizing the importance of community service and the foundational role of faith in education and development.
Following the Mass, the atmosphere was charged with gratitude as the Headteacher of Naalya Secondary Schools, Mrs. Angel Kasobya Balikudembe, took to the podium. Speaking on behalf of the entire Naalya family across all three campuses, Mrs. Balikudembe addressed the gathering and underscored the school's commitment to fostering a holistic education that values spiritual growth and community responsibility.
"The values we teach our students extend beyond the classroom," said Mrs. Balikudembe in her address. "We are proud to be part of the growth of this church, a place of worship that will serve as a spiritual home for many. This contribution is a testament to the unity and generosity of our staff and students."
In a gesture of tangible support, Mrs. Balikudembe officially handed over a cheque of One Million Shillings to the church Treasurer, marking a significant milestone in the fundraising efforts for the church’s construction.
The day was a beautiful reminder of the bond between educational institutions and the communities they serve. Naalya Secondary School Namugongo campus remains committed to producing not just academically excellent students, but also responsible and compassionate citizens.
