NAALYA LUGAZI CAMPUS MAKES A LIFE-SAVING IMPACT IN NATIONWIDE BLOOD DONATION DRIVE
Naalya Secondary School Lugazi Campus transformed into a beacon of hope as we hosted our flagship Blood Donation Program in collaboration with the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS). The drive saw an overwhelming response from our students, teaching staff, and non-teaching personnel, all stepping forward to become part of a global mission saving lives, one pint at a time.

Why Blood Donation Matters
Every day, Ugandan hospitals face critical shortages of safe blood. A single unit can save the life of a mother hemorrhaging during delivery, a child battling severe anaemia, or a victim of a road accident. According to UBTS, student donors account for over 60% of the national blood supply, making schools like ours the backbone of the country’s blood banking system. At Naalya, we take this responsibility seriously.

A Day of Compassion and Courage
The exercise began early in the morning with a health talk, where medical officers educated our volunteers on the donation process, safety protocols, and the lifesaving impact of their contribution. After thorough medical screening to ensure donor safety, eligible participants proceeded to the donation chairs with visible pride and determination. The atmosphere was electric filled with camaraderie, patriotic songs, and the quiet bravery of young people choosing to give their best.

We are incredibly proud to report that our campus recorded an impressive turnout, contributing significantly to the regional blood bank reserves. Every donor walked away with a certificate of appreciation, but more importantly, with the profound knowledge that they had just given the ultimate gift life itself.

Joining a Global Movement
This initiative aligns perfectly with our school’s core values of high moral standing, social responsibility, and community service. By donating blood, our students are not only serving Uganda but also joining the global community of voluntary donors who ensure that no patient dies due to a lack of blood. From Kampala to Kigali, from London to New York—the act of donation connects us all in a universal chain of humanity.

Gratitude and Looking Forward
We extend our deepest appreciation to:
· Uganda Blood Transfusion Services for their professionalism and logistical support.
· Our dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff for leading by example.
· Every student donor who chose courage over fear.
· Parents and guardians for nurturing such compassionate young leaders.

This is not the end of our journey. The Blood Donation Program is now a permanent fixture on our annual calendar. We call upon our alumni, parents, and the greater Lugazi community to join us in future drives. Together, we can ensure that Uganda never runs dry of this precious resource.
Remember: Your blood can save up to three lives. Will you be someone’s hero?
