Lumumba House Dances to Victory as Bweyogerere Campus Hosts Thrilling Inter-House MDD Gala 2026
The Naalya Secondary School Bweyogerere Campus is still buzzing with excitement following a spectacular showcase of talent, culture, and house pride at our annual Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) Inter-House Competitions 2026. In a tightly contested battle of artistry, Lumumba House emerged as overall champions, walking away with the top honours in an event that lit up both the school grounds and our digital platforms.

Students from all four houses Nkurumah, Mutesa, Lumumba, and Mandela took to the stage with breathtaking energy, competing in six carefully adjudicated items: Cultural Dances, Creative Dances, Cultural Songs, Mimes, Set Piece, and Poems. Each performance reflected weeks of relentless practice, creativity, and a deep sense of belonging, turning the school’s main hall into a vibrant festival of movement, sound, and storytelling.

For the first time, the entire competition was broadcast live on the school’s official social media platforms, including TikTok and YouTube, allowing parents, old students, and well-wishers from around the world to cheer on their favourite houses in real time. The online audience flooded the comment sections with messages of encouragement, turning the event into a truly global celebration of Naalya’s artistic excellence.

After a full day of outstanding performances, the final scores delivered a nail-biting finish. Lumumba House claimed the championship crown with a string of polished and emotionally charged presentations. Mutesa House secured the First Runners-Up position, impressing judges with their coordination and stage presence. Mandela House finished in a respectable third place, while Nkurumah House took fourth, earning loud applause for their spirited displays.

In a special recognition segment, the Best Performers per Item were rewarded for their individual brilliance. The awards were graciously presented by the Chairman of the Board, alongside the three Headteachers from the Namugongo, Bweyogerere, and Lugazi Campuses. Their presence underscored the unity of the Naalya family and the institution’s commitment to nurturing holistic talent beyond the classroom.

The MDD inter-house competitions once again proved that our students are not only academic giants but also custodians of cultural heritage and creative expression. We congratulate every learner who poured their heart onto the stage, the house patrons who guided them, and the technical team that flawlessly managed the live broadcast. Special gratitude goes to the Board Chairman and our Campus Directors for honouring the young artists.

Relive the magic by watching the full recordings on our TikTok and YouTube channels. As the dust settles on the dance floor, one thing is certain: the spirit of Lumumba shines bright this year, but the talent across all four houses ensures the fire of friendly rivalry will keep burning. Until the next edition, keep singing, keep dancing, and keep dreaming.
